‘People laugh at me’ this is one of the major problems of us, the teenagers. We seem to worry a lot about what people will say. How our peers will react if we did this. Won’t this seem to be funny? How can I wear this dress? How can I protest against the usage of ‘cool’ slangs? Above all if someone laughs at us, the first thing we feel is embarrassment. We become depressed stop speaking and contract ourselves in the shell. Being a teenager even I thought like this. I was not an exception to this rule.
But recently I realized that I am living in such a world were people only care about themselves. They come here to take things and not to give. They are selfish. If we think a bit we will see that we have contributed almost nothing to this beautiful planet. What use are we to this earth if we can’t give anything in exchange for what it is giving us? It was then that I realized that if people want to laugh at me what is wrong in that? I should be proud of myself that at least I am contributing something to the inhabitants of this earth. May be to a minority but still to some people I am giving something. If people can laugh only for sometimes forgetting all their worries and if I am the reason behind it… what’s wrong in that? I stopped caring about it. I laughed with them and surprisingly two things happened.
First my peers understood that there was no use laughing at me because they were not getting the fun as they could not anger me. And second, I became more confident, I knew what to do. I followed my conscience. I did what I thought was right and this rose my self-esteem to a very high level.
So my dear blog readers, if from now onwards, you see people laughing at you, don’t be sad, feel proud that you have contributed something to the world. Perhaps the most precious thing… A beautiful smile on someone’s lips.
Post script: I would like to tell you that I would not have realized this without the help of my respected teacher Suvro sir.(Mr. Suvro Chatterjee.) Thank you sir. I would be always grateful to you.

cgSriranjani,
That is a good approach towards life. I wish you luck.
You are angry with the present generation and there is no wonder in it. Any sane person should be angry at what they make us give. It is absolutely necessary to adopt this I-don't-care-what-people-think-of-me attitude to survive. Without it, it is nothing but darkness.
Keep up the good work. Let them say whatever they want. Pity them, for they do not realize that spitting skywards will only wet them with their own spit!

Shubhabrata da
Wow! This is great! Amar chhotto bon boro hoye gechhe! :) Believe me dear, this world is very cruel, very bad but its we who can make it beautiful! Spread the cheer, pity them whom you feel like cursing & you'll feel blessed!
Had pearls been as plentiful as pebbles, they wnt have been so expensive ... Its a true misery that hamanity las lost its gem, but this measury highlights the goodness that still lies somewhere ... Its only the consience who doesnot knock at our door to enlift this spirit to make the world a better place.
Donot deny the embarrasement by others, but smile in urself, besause this highlighs ur good self to the rest. Its your world, go live it for yourself first, then for your well wishers, and at last, for the bench of criticisers, never satisfied even with themselves.
I think a pleasant smile is richer than a echoed laughter
welcome to the world sweets!!
you know I've a dear friend whose actions and words are so hilarious that we can't help but laughing out loud much to his chagrin; initially he used to get quirky n all, but later he understood that we don't laugh at him but do love to laugh with him;that his antics are indispensable...but hey there will be bitterness n mockery but beauty and generous appreciation outweigh them by many a mile...pretty amused to see such rationale in a kiddo :)
Laughter is a rare thing and it is becoming rarer among the people. Also thanks to the show "Mirakkel"....at least it makes some part of the population laugh and forget their life of monotony and worry for an hour!!!!
Dear Srija,
It's wonderful to read your posts (and in some curious ways you remind me of myself when 'round about your age). The funny thing is that smiling is a curious thing - it lets us let go of our own fears and distress and anger and annoyance. Even a random smile on the road smiled at no one in particular or when we listen to a happy song or read a ridiculous P.G Wodehouse. You've imbibed one of the most fundamental teachings of a lifetime, Sweetheart - I wish you only the very best in life...and do keep writing.
Love and best wishes,
Shilpidi
P.S: Aren't you there on orkut? I could swear that you are. But I couldn't find your profile. Wanted to send you a merry/funny scrap. Keep smiling by the way.
Dear shilpidi,
Thankyou for commenting on my blog. Really a sweet smile on a sweet face is impossible to get these days but we have to live in this beautiful world so why waste the precious time by staying sad?
No, I am not in orkut.I had an account some years back but i deleted it recently. One for thing. My name is Sriranjani not Srija and would be glad if you call me by my full name.
Regards,
Sriranjani.
